One Week in November

It began with the invitation to my cousin's daughter wedding in Changlun. I decided to "key in" a few activities into this trips up north to fit in my own version of 'Jejak Rasul". Changlun itself has a niche in my early adventure as a young sulbtern in 1967. Wau that long ago! First, have to sell the idea to my other half which can be a hairy experience. Then come the planning. A one week sojurn is the ideal. Mula2 ke Cameron Highlands. We push off from Ampang at about 1030 am. My two seater is in fine conditions only my other half constant reminder of police road block kept me within the speed limit ( yalah, come to think of it this time around no speeding ticket). As we exit the Simpang Pulai Toll and began the slow drive to Cameron Highlands we began to relex and enjoy the picturesque landscape. With the help of good signage we reached our hotel slightly less than two hours after stopping for a takeaway lunch at the pasar tani stall.

The one night stay at the hotel is gratis as part of my new membership entitlement of a Tour company. It was'nt something that we did not expect but it rained the whole afternoon and we had to stay indoors until we decided to brave it out when it stop pouring to buy some CM produced vege as buah tangan for our hosts along the way up north. Nothing much to do and we decided to have early dinner at the stall specializing in Kelantan food. Not bad the sup tulang. Despite the rain the stall was full of diners, probably taht attest to the quality of the food there. We saw a large group of school children at a restuarant/hotel in front really enjoying themselves. Gave me that dejevu feeling of those years gone by.

It was a real chellange all the way that took us more than 4 hours to reach Pengkalan Hulu. The car too changed colour, from black to yellow, by the time we reached Pengkalan Hulu. By Way of Introduction

This inclination to create a blog is the result of an impromptu soul searching on the eve of my 63rd birthday. I somehow managed to suppress that nagging feeling of not being too ICT literate/savvy to handle this new undertaking. But it was also one of the rare occasions where I succumb to that level of “throwing caution to the winds” and in the same breath say “…what the heck! people who are 40 years my junior are doing it and so can I…” Thus psychologically fortified, my first step into the cyber-world took its flight. And….the rest as they say is history.

But let me reflect a fraction on this related historical antecedent. My dabbling with computer is only a recent awakening, the result of my youngest daughter’s persistent coercions to be sure, I must unashamedly confess. Being a computer graduate, she cannot fathom why her father mentor the savior of her and her siblings not too few misadventure, is intimidated by the computer of all things!

To the best of my recollection, the organization I worked for went on a computerization exercise in the early 1990s. I kept on hedging until I was up against the wall and a new gleaming desktop became part of my table implement in 1999. Even then it was just a decorative piece until my daughter came avisiting and showed me how easy and harmless it is to use a computer. How she demonstrated it is a secret between the two of us!

I reproduced my first endevour below;

" What Shall I Do? That seems to be the all consuming question at the moment for me. It is something that I have to resolve on my own. That I shall seek no assistance from others is definite because of my inclination not to be dependent on others. That being the case, I will go through the classic "muddling through" process as that is the only option left.

First and foremost I will have to address the psychological misconception about computer being fergile and will sort of bust up when I make a wrong entry and touch the wrong whatever it is that can be click with the mouse without the head!"

I had that printed and added in a hand written comment as follows:

" Not bad for muddling through. My first effort. Big deal? Oh Yes!Yes! Yes!

N.B.

Only 15 days to the next millennium I took this big step to "recomputer" myself. Hurrah!!!

That in the nutshell is how I make the quantum leap into the 21st Century. I am making this inaugral posting on my birthday today! Happy blogging to me!!!
