Dari Mimbar Masjid Tabung Haji KL, Juma’at 7 Oktober, 2011

Here we are again!!!!

Another mother of deception in the making in the form of a sex video invented by moniker Dato T (or more apt as Monkies). This dirty political charade is really a big joke that is even better than the three stooges. It rendered me standing in utter perplexity at how the power that be reacted to this political circus or madness if you will. Basically I am most perturb with the comments made by the nations number one policeman as it appear in the Star today (http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2011/3/26/nation/8356222&sec=nation)

about why the video showing by Dato T was never acted upon by the police. Imagine the IGP when asked of this missing action replied,” what offence (did they commit), you tell me?’ I just put down the newspaper but picked it up again and went over the remark the second time to make sure that I do not miss what was actually printed. All I can say is what bull shits is he talking about when his men were known to harass those peddling pornographic CDs and arresting people viewing such CDs followed by a press conference where the responsible officers rattle off the offence committed and dealt with under which penal code?

All told the ball is at Najib’s feet. He should put a stop to this if he still wants to remain at the helm. But the big Q is as the cliché goes: “has he got the balls to do it?”

Is it the system or the people that run the system???

The brouhaha on traffic summons is here again. One early report appeared in the Star Wednesday December 1, 2010http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2010/12/1/nation/7529207&sec=nation
It just seemed that traffic summons that your names and particulars are imprinted just surfaced to haunt you years after it was allegedly committed. The case in point is my having to settle for a half year entitlement of my car road tax this year because I’ve got 4 summonses unsettled between April 2008 and 2010. Yet I was able to renew my road tax for 08/09/10 without any hitch. Why the hack doesn’t I have these summonses posted so that I can settle it? And that’s not all when my daughter check online using my ic number as reference….guess what….yes I’ve 2 more summonses unsettled. In this instance I have two summonses committed in the early 2001 and 2003!!!! What a bloody sham!!!

Not so much on the system but more on the people running the system at JPJ, PDRM and who else sama saja. Rakyat didulukan …..what bullshits!!!!!!

Menghalang Pengaroh Paderi Melayu!!!

Sdr Kamal Mohd ada menanjurkan kepada beberapa teman AM memberi komen tentang posting Rafidah Ariffin mengenai Padri Melayu tapi bila saya berpeluang nak beri sedikit komen  ini yang tinggal..."This post has been removed or could not be loaded."

Maksudnya:

Kamu dahulu berada ditepi lubang nderaka, lalu diselamatkan kamu daripadanya.

The Mother of All Corruption?

It would appear that BIJAN is misusing his power as th PM in this do or die effort to win the Hulu Selangor by election. The action as it appeared in the Star reproduced below certainly went beyond the "I hugged an old lady; sit on a dirty mats to talk and give my best smile to another lady or dirty my hands flipping roti canai" routine in a by election campign. In just one sun up BIJAN resolved the problem of the settlers 15 years waiting.
The Star, Saturday April 24, 2010

BN wins and Sg Buaya Felda settlers benefit

KUALA KUBU BARU: The former Felda Sungai Buaya settlers became the beneficiaries of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s “People First, Performance Now” slogan.
The 363 settlers of the former Felda scheme or their representatives, who were supposed to have received a windfall from a move by a private company to develop the area, were given payments totalling RM18.15mil yesterday.
The settlers have been waiting for 15 years for the project developer to pay them the balance of the money for the sale of the land. Payment however was not made because the project failed.
In 1993, the settlers formed a company, Murna Jaya Sdn Bhd, to handle the land, which was later transferred to a developer to build a new township. In return, the settlers were promised money and shares.
The development however ran into problems, and many settlers did not receive the money and shares.
Of the original 363 settlers, 276 had died.
The surviving 87 settlers, including seven Indians, received RM50,000 each from Idiqa Holding Sdn Bhd yesterday.
Idiqa Holding’s chairman Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, an Umno supreme council member, said his company had acquired the land in question.
A lawyer was engaged to distribute the money to the next-of-kin of the 276 settlers who had died.
Najib said the remaining compensation money would be paid to the settlers at a rate of RM160,000 per acre when the land is developed. A total of 510ha (1,261 acres) is involved.
“The only condition is that Selangor is returned to Barisan to facilitate implementation of the development projects,” he said, during the ceremony at Sungai Buaya.
He said yesterday’s event was important because the settlers had been given a real solution to the long-standing problem.
“The suffering and livelihood pressure all these years ends today,” he said.
Najib said although the settlers were no longer in a Felda scheme, they would still be offered the Islamic insurance scheme for settlers.
“The next-of-kin will receive RM10,000 upon death,” he said.
He said the youth would also be treated like other Felda youth and offered vocational and technical training. “Felda will sponsor them,” he said to the cheers of the youth present.
It was earlier reported that Plus Expressway had pledged to build an RM85mil interchange at Sungai Buaya to connect the development to the North-South Expressway.
The new interchange will cut travel time by 60 to 90 minutes.
Najib said that if Barisan were to be returned to power in Selangor, a Universiti Teknologi Mara campus would be built in Serendah.

The F1 Outing

Somehow this year edition of Malaysian F1 was better than what we experienced last year. Five of us Ayu and Zam, Rin and Onie and I made up the group. We beat the traffic snarl by coming early to rv at the KLIA police station. We got to the police Sub-Tac Hq by 1230 hrs and our great host treated us to sweets and nasi lemak lunch. After Zam and I had our solat zohor, we were shuttled to our appointed gallery. This time seemed a better seating at the tower to get a good view of the track. Alas! Zam forgot to take along the ear plug bought the previous night. I was in luck using my iPod ear plug as substitute. My particular interest waned once Michael Schumacher was out of the race after 10 laps. Took some pictures of the race. We were out of the SIC by 1800hrs after I paid a call to Pak Zahedi and thanks him for all that he's done for us.

The Passing of a Police Officer

Oh not another fatal accident and my interest on that became more after reading the name of the victim. The name Mohd Hazam a senior cop rang a bell. My fear that the victim is someone I know was confirmed after I went through a special list of contact person. Yes Mohd Hazam was my student at the Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College in 2004. We met last at a wedding reception of Colonel Abd Latiff at Sungei Besi. I had this photo taken then.

Bung Oh Bung

This is just for the record. After seeing DBMR's photograph and Zizie togather in the Star today I thought that he deserved mentioned here. Know DBMR when he was my student at UKM during the 2005/06 academic year.
MP 'knot' tied to actress..!!!
Posted by RAKYAT MARHAEN Rabu, 2009 Disember 16

Honeymah Dylyani
KUALA LUMPUR - News portals are buzzing with news that firebrand MP Bung Mokhtar Radin and sizzling actress have married!Several of his Dewan Rakyat colleagues have purportedly received invitations to a wedding reception at a leading hotel here but the Kinabatangan rep has laughed off the hot news."I am not handsome enough for her," he told Malay news portal mStar, which reportedly said the akad nikah (solemnisation of marriage) ceremony for the two was held last week at a closed-door event.

When a reporter SMSed him to confirm whether a wedding would take place, he replied: "No kahwin, hahaha."The Sabah politician, 50, however, did not reply when asked if he had proposed to the 31-year-old actress, currently one of the hottest and most lucrative names in local TV dr amas.

Zizie's mother, Khaty Fauziah, has also refused to be drawn into any answers regarding her daughter's rumoured marriage to the MP."They're just starting to know each other," she told the portal, adding that Zizie was currently busy on set.

Actress considering proposal

The actress had reportedly admitted to Malay daily Utusan Malaysia that a certain MP had proposed to her and that she was ready to be his wife.In another interview, she told Malay tabloid Kosmo! that there is an MP that was special to her and that she needed time to consider whether or not to accept his marriage proposal. She reportedly said that since the proposal is from a married man, she has to think seriously about the matter "because I don’t want to hurt another woman’s feelings."Bung Mokhtar is already married, with four children.

A new hairdo

The reports fuelled rumours around Parliament House on Wednesday that the the two had indeed tied the knot. The stories were spiced with the side issue that the Kinabatangan MP had taken on a youthful hairstyle and dyed hair.Fellow MP Mohamed Aziz (Sri Gading), who is also known to be outspoken and controversial, was silent on this issue. No comments, he told the media.Another parliamentarian and close friend, Ismail Kassim (Arau) also sidestepped the issue. "It's a personal thing. I do not know anything." - Malaysian Mirror

The Passing of an Illustrious Diplomat.

The passing of Tun Ghazali Shafie, whose long illustrious service as the nation’s top Diplomat and Politician extraordinaire is indeed a great loss. In his heyday King Ghaz’s reputation in that specialized field is regarded by both friends and rivals as arguably, “Second-to-None”. A good reflection is reproduced here from The Star:
The long and illustrious road of a no-nonsense ministerBy PAUL GABRIEL
Monday January 25, 2010
paulnews@thestar.com.my
TUN Ghazali Shafie (pic) was often said to be a man who could surmount any challenge, and defy all odds.
Even when the media predicted his death when the light aircraft he was flying in with two others crashed at Kampung Janda Baik, near Genting Highlands, Ghazali emerged almost unscathed after spending 28 hours in the dense Pahang forest.
That was way back in 1982, when Ghazali was Foreign Minister. The other two were killed in the crash.
The Star’s headline on January 11 read “Ghaz in plane crash, minister feared dead”. Inside, two pages were dedicated to Ghazali, with pictures of him at the peak of his career.
A full-scale search operation was launched, joined by the then Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Datuk (now Tun) Musa Hitam.
It was feared that if Ghazali, who had “battled” the communist terrorists as Home Minister from 1973 to 1981, was alive, he could be captured by them.
He calmly said after being found: “I’m alive and walking... God is great.” It was reported that Ghazali, a qualified private pilot, had tumbled out of the aircraft “when I saw treetops of the jungle rushing at me.”
“King Ghaz” (a nickname he got from a character of the Alley Oop comics strip), certainly had an illustrious career in public service.
He was an expert in international affairs, known for his flamboyance and dashing style. “Ghazali had style, verve, intellect and confidence verging on arrogance,” wrote one observer way back when Ghazali was at the peak of his life.
He rose to the pinnacle of the ministry after having served as Permanent Secretary of the Foreign Ministry, leading in the efforts to keep Malaysia’s foreign policy on a neutral course of non-alignment.
Ghazali, who also served as Special Functions Minister and Information Minister, was probably best known for his “no nonsense” approach as Home Minister.
An avowed anti-communist, he kept alive in the public mind the eternal need for vigilance against the Red peril.
He was so thorough in his work that he expected journalists covering his assignments to come fully prepared.
Senior journalist Johan Fernandez remembers attending the minister’s briefing on a White Paper on the communist threat, back in the 70s, which had been distributed a week earlier to the media.
“When one of the reporters posed a question, a disgusted-looking Ghazali gave him a stare and snapped: “The White Paper was given to you people earlier to read and understand and ask intelligent questions. Whatever you ask is all written in the paper. Don’t waste my time!”
Ghazali’s tough mantle also came to the forefront when he spearheaded negotiations to seek the release of Malaysian, American and Swedish hostages caught in the Japanese Red Army siege at the AIA Building in Kuala Lumpur, where the US Embassy was located, in 1975.
As Home Minister during the crucial period, Ghazali excelled in his role as the “man in the middle”, drawing praise from the then Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri (now Tun) Haniff Omar.
“He blew his top at a Japanese official who seemed to be inept in moving to secure the release of the hostages. That was how Ghazali worked,” recalled another senior journalist.
Still, King Ghaz was not without his detractors. Some claimed that he was involved in certain conspiracies, and that he was too fond of making detentions under the Internal Security Act (ISA).
Renowned journalist Datuk Seri Azman Ujang recalls visiting Ghazali at his Ampang Hilir residence several years ago, asking if he felt any guilt at all for all those arrests.
Known also for keeping his cool during sticky situations, the reply came: “I was just doing my job.”
It has certainly been a long and illustrious road for King Ghaz. He handled his duties the best way he knew and was not easily swayed by public opinion.
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2010/1/25/nation/5539677&sec=nation

I can recalled some memorable fleeting encounters with King Ghaz, the most recent one being at one of the ISIS conference/seminar in 2007.

But my first encounter with him was during the turbulent first week after May 13th. I believed he was then the Permanent Secretary of the Foreign Ministry. This is where I, as a young subaltern witness “his flamboyance and dashing style”. He was adressing a crowd at the Balai Dato’ Harun in Kampung Baru where I and my troop was patrolling. What struck me then was his thight blue jeans and a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver tucked under his belt behind him. He called me aside and asked for an up date. I gave the “under control situation reports”. He listened without interruption until I completed my short briefing. He then nodded at the rest of the troops and let us continue with our patrolling.

The second encounter was in May/June 1974 after the tragic accident suffered by Majid Din HSB Pahang. He was in a coma at the Temerloh Hospital and King Ghaz, who was then Home Minister and Majid Din’s Kampung mates decided that the victim is to be airlifted to HKL. If my memory served me right, the accident was on a Sunday and King Ghaz requested that I, as the MIO to arrange for a Nuri airlift. I got to speak to the duty officer in Mindef, a Major at about 1600hrs. Sensing that I have problem getting the Major to deal with the request, King Ghaz motioned that I gave him the handset. As a Captain I witness his “no nonsense side”. I can still recollect the words used by the minister, the result of which a Nuri was hoovering at a makeshift helipad at a school padang at about 2000 hrs flood lighted by about 20 cars headlight that I had arranged.
My third encounter was in early August 1988 which took place while waiting for my flight home to KL at Don Muang Airport, Bangkok. This was more on the lighter side of life and as a Lt Col I witnessed King Ghaz display of his intellect and wittiness at its best. I was approaching the airport restroom when King Ghaz suddenly exited from the ladies restroom. (I could only summised that in his haste to satisfy the call of nature he must have missed the signage to the men’s room) He almost collided with two Europen ladies and was reprimanded in no uncertain term “sir, this is meant for ladies”. Inside me I was telling myself how the hell is my minister going to respond. But true to form and without betting an eyelid King Ghaz quipped, “ I too,Ma’am, is meant for ladies”. Phew! you should be there to see the look on the two mat salleh's faces!!!

May Allah blessed his soul. Alfatihah.

The Passing of Sultan Iskandar

The Passing of Sultan Iskandar was confirmed by my friend Mir Hamzah at 2010 hrs on Friday who was informed by his source at the VVIP ward. I have not many recollection of having the opportunity to meet my Sultan except for the yearly aid fitri prayer at the Sultan Abu Bakar mosque in JB.

Another unforgetable moment was when DYMM Sultan deliver the Kutbah at the same mosque one Friday that I happened to be back in JB.

Watching the funeral services over TV1 was my only means to be part of that history. Daulat Tuanku and my Allah blessed his soul. Alfatihah.

Too Late For Recrimination- Revisited

I wrote on 16 Dec, 2008 about our compressor being stolen and early today Ayu called to informed us that her abode in Bukit Jelutong was broken into and a significant loss was incurred. She sounded distraught and we told her to be calm and that we are coming . At least I don't feel too bad 'cause now Ayu has a new shoulder to lean on since her hubby, Zam was there to support her. Two police cars were at her abode when we arrived and we were told that they were just responding to the emergency call and since no emergency action were needed they left after scouting around and leaving it to the investigating officer to take action. Zam took us on a "tour of the intruder's entry, collection effort and escapade" route. Look like a young punk's doing based on his liking for electronic games gadgets taken. Also cash, jewellery and expensive items of Ayu's collection. The investigating officer, Sargent Fauzi and his photographer arrived at about 1000hrs and spent about 90 minutes doing their CSI chores. Before leaving Sargent Fauzi told Ayu to make the official report at Shah Alam Police HQ. After making the report, they were told that the result will be made available in 1 month. YES ONLY IN HOLLYWOOD MOVIE THE RESULT IS ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY!!!!!! All told the loss is in the region of 50k.
Too Late For Recrimination too here. Obviously the break in happened between 1400hrs to 1900hrs on Saturday. Ayu sent the cleaning lady at 1300hrs. In her haste Ayu has forgotten to switch on the alarm and also the CCTV. This costly oversight gave the intruder a free ride or else his escapade would've been recorded. Human can only proposes but Allah disposes. This should teach us to be more meticulous in our dealing and never act in a hurry.

What Seclurism has done?

I am not going to use the cliche' " I told you so", but events unfolding in the past week proved my point to the dot. It culminated in what Lee Lam Thye wrote in the Star today as " dastardly act ". So who's responsible for the arsonist gambade aimed at three churches that attracted a galvanized crescendo that get front page coverage in the local print media. A typical Malaysian Brouhaha followed with the icing to the human made disaster further muddled by calls, advices and comments of the leaders, politicians and NGOs of all colours and hues including the Chameleon.....
But my third side of the coin says that the honourable Justice Lau Bee Lan is the source of this calamity. She should've temper her judgment with the insight that " the threat to national security" her judgement would render would unfold. Central to this is when religious issues is left to be arbitrated using secular wisdom which is human inspired. To me anything that is human made is open to flaws. As a result of this lady's myopia a situation that threaten national security now prevail. The source of this falls squarely at her feet and nobody else. On the other hand, it could be just the judge's act of salvation!!!!! Considering that......

The Holy Ghost is not Allah

Allahhuakbar.
The christian pundit in Malaysia won the court case to use the word 'Allah" in their publication. Thanks to the high court ruling. No thanks to the eminent finding of the judge who set on the case. What bulls!!!
Produced below is the ruling as reported in the Star of 31st December, 2009.
"...Court rules Herald free to use the word "Allah"
By Lisa Goh
KUALA LUMPUR: The Catholic weekly Herald is now free to use the word "Allah" in its publication after the High Court quashed the Home Minister's prohibition against it using the word, declaring the order as "illegal, null and void."
In her decision, Justice Lau Bee Lan also declared that under Article 3(1) of the Federal Constitution, applicant Titular Roman Catholic Archbishop Tan Sri Murphy Pakiam had the constitutional right to use "Allah" in Herald in the exercise of his right that religions other than Islam might be practised in peace and harmony in the country.
She further ruled that the Constitution, which states Islam as the country's religion, did not empower the minister to make such a prohibition.
"In pursuant to Article 10, the applicant also has the right to use the word 'Allah' in the Herald in the exercise of his right to freedom of speech and expression." she said in her oral judgment Thursday to a packed courtroom.
Justice Lau ruled as grounds for her judgement that both the respondents - the minister and the Malaysian government - had failed throughout the trial to prove how the use of the word "Allah" could threaten national security.
On Jan 7 last year, the Home Ministry had approved the Herald's publication permit on condition that the usage of the word "Allah" was prohibited and the word "Limited" (Terhad) be endorsed on its front page to mean that it must be circulated only to Christians.
The minister had prohibited the usage on grounds of national security and to avoid misunderstanding and confusion among Muslims.
The Archbishop, as Herald's publisher, had filed an application on Feb 16 for a judicial review to seek a declaration that the minister’s decision for the prohibition was illegal and that the word "Allah" was not exclusive to Islam.
Representing the Archbishop were counsel Porres P. Royan and S. Selvarajah while senior federal counsel Datuk Kamaludin Md Said stood for the respondents.
Following the ruling, Kamaludin sought a clarification for the declaration to be only confined for the permit in question, which was for the period from Jan 1 to Dec 31 last year, and not future permits.
"It does not relate to an order or decision relating to future permits," he said, adding that future permits would require a fresh application.
However, Royan argued that the permit for the period between Jan 1 and Dec 31 this year had already been issued, subjected to the same condition pending the court's determination on the matter.
"The order speaks for itself. I believe the minister will be bound by the words he has used and that he will respect the court's decision.
"Of course, they have other remedies. The court has granted declarations to allow the use of the word 'Allah' that must bind the parties," he said.
Kamaludin then said he would seek direction from the minister on whether they would file a stay of execution application or an appeal.
In an immediate reaction, Herald’s editor Father Andrew Lawrence told the press that this was a "long-awaited" decision, hailing it as a "landmark case for our nation"...."

Yes, so WHAT?? Hail to Justice Lau Bee Lan. I prey for devine intervention that this lady will get her "reward" for her impertinency. Allahhuakbar!!! Just like the eminent Augustine Paul.
On a more realistic note, my third side of the coin forecast this.To me this so-called eminent lady has just opened up the pandora box that proved to be the antithesis of her finding that "...the minister and the Malaysian government - had failed throughout the trial to prove how the use of the word "Allah" could threaten national security...." Just wait lady, because the scenerio that could threaten national security that your mypoic judgement asserts will soon unfold in the week ahead. Its simple deduction, lady, based on my experience in dealing with issues of national security. Just watch!!!!

The Sabah Saga

Posted by PicasaThe trip to Sabah was initiated some three months ago dictated as much by the necessity to get favourable Air Asia tickets price. Hence the saga that follows. The cheap fair avilable for the dates of travel is from Penang so we just booked it. Not much thought was given to the need to get to Penang for the flight as opposed to taking a direct flight to KK from KL.

Salute to James W. von Brunn

The Associated Press reported from Washington “ -- An 88-year-old gunman with a violent and virulently anti-Semitic past opened fire with a rifle inside the crowded U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum on Wednesday, fatally wounding a security guard before being shot himself by other officers, authorities said.” Read more here http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/%202009/06/10/%20AR2009061001767.html
This was attributed to James W. von Brunn. I salute this courageous soul.
To me the jews deserved this. They seemed to think that they are always right and this museum incident brought back to mind what took place at another museum 62 years ago.
“MAY 14, 1948 at 4.32 PM. David Ben-Gurion stood in the Tel Aviv museum and said that by virtue of the natural and historic right of the jewish people the state of Israel was established.”
Whatever appellation given David Ben-Gurion, he is to me a terrorist par excellence and those who do not appeased the jews labeled anti-Semitic. What BULLs!!! In this instance I have commented in October 2003 via a letter to the Star newspaper (which they conveniently did not published)
Dear Sir,
Allow me some space to state my feeling on the condemnation of Western leaders and their media against the Prime Minister as a result of his opening address at the 10th OIC Summit. If "The Seattle Times" carrying reports by the Associated Press had as its headline " Defiant Malaysian Leader stand by Comments" then, I and all Malaysian stand by our PM. The chorus of condemnations is deafening through the United States, Canada, the EU, Israel, Germany, Britain and Australia. Let me tell these primates who think that they are privileged people that when you are confronted with the truth it hurts.
For people like the State Department spokesman Adam Ereli who called the speech offensive
and inflammatory and Israel's Foreign Ministry comment that its "a desecration of the memory of 6 million victims of anti-Semitism." I would like to ask why the brouhaha and hullabaloos on Dr. Mahathir's remark about the Jews since the truth has been on record since 1921. I suggest that they read Henry Ford's " The International Jews" all 4 volumes of it to understand what Dr.Mahathir was saying. Otherwise go and peddle your wares in the Australian outback. “
The world need more James W. von Brunn. I salute you James von Brunn!!!

Mother's Day

Sunday 10th May, received sms from my youngest brother Muhammad in Malacca to call mak to wish her happy mothers day. Mak had been in Mohd new house about a forthnight. I just let the sms be and thought of calling later after I've gone through my sunday ritual of doing the word puzzle. Suddenly I just hollared to M who's busy cooking lunch to ask her to pack everything and be ready to dash to Mohd's house in Malacca. I called Mohd number and Rasmiza answered. I made her promised not to tell that we are coming. Its to be a surprise. I was also told that Khadijah was also on the way there. So Mak will have three children celebrating mothers day. Everybody happy with potluck lunch and cakes to boot as part of this impromptu celebrations. The cucu and the 3 cicits had a hell of a good times with their grandmother/great grandmother.

The Manila Saga

This trip to Manila was triggered by the prospect of meeting with a close buddy whom I have not met or in communication for the last 30 years. After trying
to establish contact which began in 2005 and finally knowing that Ben is some how connected to The Manila Yacht Club, I thought that at least I can pay the club a visit and take it from there. But divine intervention changed all that. Appended below is the sequent of events/communication that prelude the trip to Manila.
It began with this e mail.

Dear Ms Gladie A. Patawaran,
I am Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Rahman Adam (Retired) from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
I am taking the liberty to communicate with you in a long shot effort to trace my friend Vice Admiral Ruben S. Lista (Retired). We were classmate at SITS, Fort Bonifacio, Manila way back in 1979 where Ben was then a Lieutenant Commander. I have been trying to trace him since 2005.
When going through the Manila Yacht Club website I came across the name Ruben S. Lista (Director and Chairman-House Committee). I wonder if the gentleman is the same Ruben S. Lista that I know whose wife is the lovely Jenet.
So I am seeking your indulgence to extend this message to him. If he is my "Ben Lista" I am looking forward to renewing our link and my e-mail address is:
ar_benadam@yahoo.com
Indeed I am truly indebted by your kind assistance Ms Gladie A. Patawaran
Yours sincerely,
abdulrahmanadam
P.S.
My apology for gate-crashing through this contact e-mail not for the purpose it was made available for.

Dear Pen Floren – Avila
I hope this mail finds you in good spirit. I am resending this since there is no come back after you have passed my message to the Committee Office. I am sincerely seeking assistance from your good self to pass this to Vice Adm (R) Ruben S. Lista. Alternatively, if you can furnish me with his e-mail address or telephone no, I can then write/contact him directly. I am planning a trip to Manila in the second week of April
Thank you for your assistance.
Best regards,

Dear Vice Admiral Ruben S Lista,
First order on line is for me to execute the time honoured military honorifics by standing at attention and salute you. Well Ben it is not everyday that one can claimed he's got a three star Admiral as a good buddy. Actually I do not know where to begin. I am so damn excited at finally seeing your sms. So I decided to forward to you the recent effort to trace you and share the high hope that I had and then followed by disappointment of sort when the lady that I gloated as a "heaven-sent good Samaritan" cannot deliver. May be its not that easy for her to get in touch with a three star Admiral I suppose. But then divine intervention took its course and another "heaven-sent good Samaritan" came a calling in the form of Lt Col Perfecto M Rimando PA. I met him and his Malaysian course mate at our Armed Forces Defence College, both of whom are under my supervision to complete their thesis as part of the requirement to graduate with a master degree to be awarded by my university. In less than 48 hours he accomplished what a lot of the people I consulted over the last 3 years cannot deliver. See my humble CV attached for an update on what I've been up to for the past 30 years. The good fortune really came at the right moment because Maznah and I shall be in Manila next month from 8 April-11 April. The Airasia flight AK 32 ETA Clark at 1115 hrs. We are booked through Airasia at Best Western Hotel La Corona. I thought as a last ditch effort I would go on the Philippines TV and appealed "for the admiral to come out of hiding" (lol). I hope to see you then Ben. I am going to post this one now and get to you later with more updates. Cheers.
With best wishes to you and Jan.

That's great! Clark is only an hour and a half from Manila. Give me your itinerary so we will know how and what to do. Do you play golf? What do you want to do? How about Maznah? Jennette is currently in Las Vegas but she will be back by then. Keep in touch. My cell phone is +639175478277.

Its great too to hear from you. Am making this quick response from my room at the National university. The system at my place of residence in KL was down for the past 3 days and still is. So I came to the univ after getting your first sms so as to get the Internet service. About the trip, we do not have any definite plan of our stay in Manila. I am totally out of touch with the happenings in Metro Manila Ben. We can probably work on it as we go along to include perhaps a foursome dinner afloat somewhere in Manila Bay I suppose!!!. Well I have given up golf for almost a dozen years since my back problem became a bother just after completing the 3rd hole. So I decided to give it up since I can't enjoy the game any more. Anyway I wasn't a golf addict to begin with. Whatever it is, meeting Jan and you is good enough and more like the icing on the cake.
With best wishes,
Ray

Great! I have been looking for you for a long time. I met several of your Naval and military Attaches and gave them my contact numbers. They never tried hard enough probably. Anyway, it is nice to hear from you again. Hope your visit will be memorable particularly so that you are quite far from Manila. Clark is the former US Air force base in the province of Pampanga, north of Manila. It might be hard to commute due to traffics. Do you have anything to do at Clark? Why will you billet there? There is nothing to do there. Check with your travel agent and see the map too. Keep in touch. Regards,
Ben

Hai Ben,
You must be at the golf course now. Am back in the office again. The system at home is still down. Well we both probably did not get the right candidate to help trace one another. I am surprised that the naval or defence attaché you asked do not know me because until 2005 I conducted/lectured the defence attaché course. They just do not think its very important. I had Anne Juloundo (not sure of the spelling) who was my student at IDFR and 2nd Sec at the Philippines embassy in KL to help out. But no result. Ok everything of that episode is moot now since we are back in communication. Ben I am billeting Best Western Hotel La Corona : 1166 MH del Pillar Corner, Arquiza,St. Ermita, Manila,Philippines. Its not at Clark. I have vague memories about Clark which I believed is closed to Angles City. So the hotel where we will be staying is smack in the heart of Manila I suppose. Have a nice day at the golf course.
Cheers

Dear Rey,
I forgot that it will be our Lent season when you are coming over. Can you move it after the 12th because we will be out of the country too. We will be in Guam for vacation because it's a long vacation starting this Saturday.
I can ask one of my drivers to help you out if you can not move your visit.
Regards.

A tiny setback Ben. I'll try for the move. But knowing how these people treat such request I am doubtful that we can get the date changed. What I have in mind planned after the Manila RV is to get you and Jen to come to KL. With the Manila meeting out its all the more incumbent that we do it in KL. Who knows that I can arrange a surprise golf for you too. Cheers

What appeared above is the climax to the search. But alas the meeting do not take place because Ben had already planned to be in Guam during the Lent holidays. Thus the Manila Saga.We arrived by Air Asia at 1145 hrs and took the shuttle bus to Pasay. Paid 220 pesos for the taxi ride to Ermita where our hotel is. We were thankful that the reception upgraded our room and we were able to enjoy the better facilities. Try to sort out our itinerary since we were told that Manila is a ghost town during Lent holiday. We bought a local sim card at 7 Eleven and contacted Col Alex ex-student of MAF Defence College. Alex promise to meet us at 1000 hrs Thursday. Also manage to at last contact our DA on Thursday morning. BG Khlair ( I didn't know that he's a 1 star general until we were at his house that afternoon). Both Alex and Khlair make our otherwise boring sojourn in Manila into a memorable one. So also the Ambassador and his lovely and caring wife.
Both the DA's staff collected us early Saturday morning and drove to Clark Airport for our trip home. Arrived KL LCCT at about 1520 hrs. Rin drove us home to Ampang
